The State Route 95 to Walston Bridge stretch of Blackwater Creek in Alabama is 8.9 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Walker County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Blackwater Creek are pretty good. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more
challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. Blackwater Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches,
the State Route 95 to Walston Bridge stretch is the only one. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: A lot of precipitation falls at Blackwater Creek; through March this area sees the most rain while October is generally the driest month. During the days of summer at Blackwater Creek temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are commonly in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Blackwater Creek temperatures drop to the 20's.
