If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the US Route 11 to County Route 10 section is one of them. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Birmingham-Hoover, as you can see     on the road map further down. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The US Route 11 to County Route 10 section of Cahaba River is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: A lot of rain falls at Cahaba River; most of the rain falls all through March while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. At Cahaba River throughout the days of summer highs are in the 80's with night lows in the 60's.
