Alabama whitewater - Cheaha Creek, Talladega County
Talladega
county,
Cheaha Falls to Devils Den section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-IV+ 2 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The starting point is not too far from Anniston-Oxford, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of Alabama and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve
in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are no other stretches to paddle along Cheaha Creek than the Cheaha Falls to Devils Den stretch. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared
to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. This section of Cheaha Creek in Alabama is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV+ section by American Whitewater.
