The starting point is not too far from Anniston-Oxford, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alabama is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. There are no other stretches to paddle along Cheaha     Creek than the Cheaha Falls to Devils Den stretch. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. This stretch of Cheaha Creek is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV+ section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: During the warmest time of the year highs here at Cheaha Creek get into the 90's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. During the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 50's while the cold winter nights at   Cheaha Creek are in the 30's. The high level of rainfall makes Cheaha Creek a rather wet location; March is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
