This section of Chinquapin Creek in Crenshaw County is 0.75 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Alabama and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alabama are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many
runs in this state are not easy. If you're coming from Summerville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and
if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Lower Canyon Rim Road to Little River Canyon section is the only paddling section along Chinquapin Creek. This section is very short so no need to bring snacks. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: During the warm days of summer here at Chinquapin Creek, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with
highs in the 40's while Chinquapin Creek nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. Chinquapin Creek is a rather wet place generally with much precipitation; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is October.
