The natural beauty of Jackson County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. If you're coming from Scottsboro it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting
and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive
a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are no other sections to paddle along Coon Creek than the Rt. 117 to Lake Guntersville section. There's camping available near Coon Creek. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here.
