  This stretch of Coosa River in Alabama is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II(III) section. The starting location is a short drive from Montgomery, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful scenery of Elmore County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The CR 213 or dam to River
    Road stretch is the only paddling stretch along Coosa River. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.

You might want to pay a visit to Moccasin Shoals while you're here at Coosa River. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Coosa River. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's; nighttime
 
lows through the wintertime for Coosa River tend to be in the 30's.
Coosa River is a wet location that gets lots of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is March, and October is the month with the least moisture.
