CR 213 or dam to River Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II(III) 7 miles
The wonderful Alabama scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section of Coosa River is 7 miles long and is a class I-II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Montgomery, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some
kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to
spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Coosa River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the CR 213 or dam to River Road stretch is the only one. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alabama is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.
Briefly about the general area: Through the months of summer at Coosa River temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the
