This section of Coosa River in Elmore County is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II(III) section. The beautiful scenery of Elmore County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Montgomery, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Coosa River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the CR 213 or dam to River Road stretch is the only one. set. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Whether you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alabama you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy.
