The starting location is a short drive from Montgomery, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful scenery of Elmore County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The CR 213 or dam to River     Road stretch is the only paddling stretch along Coosa River. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
