Alabama whitewater - Drum Creek, Marshall County

Marshall county, Rice Mill Road to Short Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III     0.85 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alabama is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The nature scenery of Marshall County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch of Drum Creek is 0.85 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into
whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This is an extremely short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from
far and near. The starting point is not too far from Albertville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Drum Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Rice Mill Road to Short Creek stretch is the only one.
