Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The wonderful Alabama scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Dry Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in location is a short drive from Albertville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Dry Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the CR 44 to Lake Guntersville section is the only one. The CR 44 to Lake Guntersville
stretch of Dry Creek in Marshall County is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There
aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes.
Briefly about the general area: While staying at Dry Creek you could always discover King Gap. High temperatures at Dry Creek during the months of summer are in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the
60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and overnight lows at Dry Creek during the winter typically descend into the 30's. A spree to close by Berry Point is very relaxing; what would a place like Dry Creek be without attention-grabbing nearby marks like Blue Bend. Dry Creek sees pretty high levels of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month of the year is October.
