  The Elkahatchee Road to SR 63 section of Elkahatchee Creek in Tallapoosa County is 1.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Talladega-Sylacauga, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Alabama and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. This is a very short stretch so better bring some
    good walking shoes. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The campgrounds here at Elkahatchee Creek are pretty good. Lodging
is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The Elkahatchee Road to SR 63 section is the only paddling section along Elkahatchee Creek.

Summertime at Elkahatchee Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 90's, and the nighttime is fairly colder of course, generally in the 60's. Through the wintertime highs are generally in the 50's while Elkahatchee Creek overnight low temperatures
 
during the winter are in the 20's. Elkahatchee Creek is a quite wet place commonly with a lot of rain; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest.
