1st bridge upstream to Locust Fork section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III 1.5 miles
The 1st bridge upstream to Locust Fork section of Graves Creek in Blount County is 1.5 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The average Alabama whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The starting location is a short drive from Cullman, please print
out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Graves
Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the 1st bridge upstream to Locust Fork stretch is the only one. The wonderful Blount County scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
