The scenic beauty of Dekalb County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: A spree to Thomson Gap is always fun, and Taft Spring is always fun to check out.
