If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alabama you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The scenic beauty of Dekalb/ Cherokee County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance     because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch of Little River in Dekalb/ Cherokee County is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Little River a wet location; March is when you get the most rain here while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the warm months at Little River highs are usually in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's.
