The best time to run is in late April early May when the flowers are in full bloom. Six inches of water must be flowing over the dam to make a good run. Says Robert Maples Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The wonderful Alabama scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in location is a short drive from     Summerville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camp stove. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.
