The State Route 73 to Long Island Creek section of Lively Creek is 6.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III+ section of whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day     trip. The put-in is not too far from Scottsboro, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There's camping available near Lively Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: Brewer Point is not far from Lively Creek at all; if you wish for a little side trip, try Bryant Gulf. All through the summertime highs here at Lively Creek get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down   to the 40's, and nighttime lows at Lively Creek through the wintertime mostly sink into the 20's. Much rainfall falls at Lively Creek; March is the wettest month with most rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month.
