The wonderful De Kalb County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a short drive from Scottsboro, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is the only paddling stretch along Lively Creek.     Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section of Lively Creek in Alabama is 6.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III+ section. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip.
