Alabama whitewater - Mill Creek, Blount County

Blount county, Rt. 31 to Dirt Road off CR 5 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III     0.5 miles
The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The wonderful Alabama scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Rt. 31 to Dirt Road off CR 5 stretch of Mill Creek is 0.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might
end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The put-in is not too far from Cullman, as you can see on the road map further down. This section is very short so better bring some good walking shoes.
The campgrounds here at Mill Creek are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too.

Briefly about the general area:
Cold Spring is an inspiring location to have a look at while here, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Sulphur Spring.
