Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might have
to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The wonderful Jackson County scenery
and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Rt. 71 to Lake Guntersville section is the only paddling section along Miller/Long Island Creek. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
