Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alabama is often tougher than elsewhere, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might have
to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The wonderful Jackson County scenery
and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Rt. 71 to Lake Guntersville section is the only paddling section along Miller/Long Island Creek. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that.

Briefly about the general area:
You might want to pay a visit to Griffin Gulf while you're here at Miller/Long Island Creek, and do put some time aside to spend at Gray Spring since you're here at Miller/Long Island Creek. This river

has so much to offer. A trip to Russell Cave National Monument is worthwhile.
It's always tremendous to stop by Gross Spring, and since you're here, do take a trip to Hollaway Point.
