You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a     very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Rice Creek are pretty good. The wonderful Cullman County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.
