Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll
find lots of paddling rivers. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section of Scarham Creek in De Kalb County is 2.1 miles long and is a class III+(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Albertville it's not
a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
