Alabama whitewater - Shoal Creek, Marshall County

Marshall county, 1st bridge to Double Bridges section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III     2.9 miles
The wonderful Alabama scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Shoal Creek make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alabama is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There's
camping available near Shoal Creek. The starting location is a short drive from Albertville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Shoal Creek is 2.9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section.
Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
