The starting location is a short drive from Albertville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The 1st bridge to Double Bridges section of Shoal Creek in Marshall County is 2.9 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing     to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alabama you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The 1st bridge to Double Bridges section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Shoal Creek is a quite wet place ordinarily with a good deal of rain; March is the wettest month with most rain;   the driest of the months is October. Summertime highs at Shoal Creek typically tend to be in the 90's; the overnight is fairly chillier of course, mostly in the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are typically in the 50's while Shoal Creek night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 30's.
