Marshall
county,
CR 240 to Wheeler Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 4 miles
The starting location is a reasonable drive from Albertville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Shoal Creek in Marshall County is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The wonderful Alabama scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a
room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the CR 240 to Wheeler Lake section is one of them. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The average Alabama whitewater rafting or kayaking river
tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here.
