The CR 240 to Wheeler Lake stretch of Shoal Creek in Marshall County is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Alabama and the cool fresh water beats anything. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river
for a while have people coming from far and near. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The average Alabama whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those
in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the CR 240 to Wheeler Lake section is one of them.
