  This section of Short Creek in De Kalb County is 4.4 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of De Kalb County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The put-in location is a short drive from Albertville, as you can see on the road map further down. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. You can pitch a tent or park
    your RV at a nearby campground. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This river system has
a few good paddling sections and the Route 75 to Hustleville Road section is one of them. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip.

At Short Creek throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 90's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's with temperatures at Short Creek dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.
