The natural beauty of Alabama and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The average Alabama whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Route 75 to Hustleville Road section is one of them. The put-in is not too far from Albertville, please print out a copy of the road map
    further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Short Creek is 4.4 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This stretch
has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The campgrounds here at Short Creek are pretty good.

Briefly about the general area:
It's always pleasant to have a look at Short Creek Falls; don't leave Short Creek without first checking out Blue Bend. At Short Creek during the days of summer highs are in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Short Creek.
 
The high level of precipitation makes Short Creek a reasonably wet spot; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily March, that's the one that rains the most, and October on the other hand is the driest.
