The starting location is a short drive from Summerville, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of South Sauty Creek in Alabama is 7.15 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Alabama and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average Alabama whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable
for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back
for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Intersection of County Roads 41 and 56 to Bucks Pocket section is the only paddling section along South Sauty Creek. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
