  If you're coming from Scottsboro it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of South Sauty Creek in Jackson/DeKalb County is 1.2 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Alabama scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is an extremely short section so it's not
    like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. For all you camping people
there are campgrounds nearby. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alabama are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. South Sauty Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Bucks Pocket to Guntersville Lake stretch is the only one.

Don't leave South Sauty Creek without first paying a visit to Yeager Spring. The warmest time of the year at South Sauty Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 90's, and the night
 
is fairly colder of course, commonly in the 60's. Highs all through the winter are frequently in the 40's; overnight lows in the 20's for South Sauty Creek.
South Sauty Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is October. Bucks Pocket is a perfect place to spend some time at, and you must check out Godwin Point when you're here.
