Alabama whitewater - Stringer Creek, Jackson County

Jackson county, CR 38 to South Sauty Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II(III)     1 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The CR 38 to South Sauty Creek section of Stringer Creek is 1 miles long and is a class II(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Alabama scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This stretch is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You can pitch a tent
or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This is the only paddling section along Stringer Creek. The put-in location is a short drive from Scottsboro, if you're not familiar with the area
there's a road map further down the page. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.
