This section of Tallapoosa River in Alabama is 1.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The natural beauty of Elmore Tallapoosa County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might     end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alabama you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This is the only paddling stretch along Tallapoosa River. Briefly about the general area: The high level of rain makes Tallapoosa River a pretty wet spot; throughout March this area sees the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the duration of the warm months, highs commonly are in the 80's at Tallapoosa River. All through the dark hours   of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 50's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Tallapoosa River temperatures descend to the 30's. Tallapoosa Falls is a good local attraction.
