The Dirt Road off Route 15 to Route 1 section of Warrior River - Blackburn Fork is 4.5 miles long and is a class I-III(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Cullman, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. The wonderful Alabama scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've
been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
