  The starting location is a reasonable drive from Gadsden, as you can see on the road map further down. The CR49 to CR47 stretch of Wolf Creek is 1.5 miles long and is a class II-IV(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The beautiful scenery of Cherokee County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to
    one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There's camping available near Wolf Creek. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama
tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the CR49 to CR47 section is one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.

At Wolf Creek through the summertime highs are in the 80's while overnight lows are generally in the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; winter nights come with
 
lows in the 20's to Wolf Creek. Wolf Creek gets lots of water; most of the rain falls through March, and October meanwhile is the driest month.
