Alabama whitewater - Yellow Creek, unknown County

First Falls to Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV-V+     1 miles
The nature scenery of unknown County and the water flowing gracefully down Yellow Creek beats anything. The put-in location is a short drive from Gadsden, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking
in Alabama is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This section is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. This is the only paddling section along Yellow Creek. If
you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Yellow Creek is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V+ section.

Briefly about the general area:
The high level of precipitation makes Yellow Creek a quite wet place; during the month of March you get the most rain around here while October is regularly the driest month. Anderson Cove is in the vicinity and always good to pop by.
During the warmest time of the year here at Yellow Creek, high temperatures commonly

get into the 80's, and the overnight is fairly colder of course, mostly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Yellow Creek.
