The wonderful Alaska scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Anchorage it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and spending some quality time
in nature are great attractions for lots of people. There's camping available near Campbell Creek. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. There are no other stretches to paddle along Campbell
Creek than the Powerline pass to Hilltop Ski area stretch. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.
Briefly about the general area: Since you're here at Campbell Creek why not stop at Campbell Creek Canyon, and Alpenglow At Arctic Valley has wonderful slopes and a friendly staff. The warmest time of the year at Campbell Creek comes with high temperatures in the 60's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 10's; winter
nights come with lows in the 0's to Campbell Creek. Campbell Creek is generally a reasonably dried up location; September is the month that gets the most rain while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
