  The scenic beauty of Alaska and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Seward HigHighway at outlet of Lower Summit Lake to Seward Highway at Hope Junction section of Canyon Creek is 6.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alaska are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. A good workout and a chance to spend
    some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper
you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling section along Canyon Creek. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon.

Briefly about the general area:
Canyon Creek is regularly a relatively dried up spot; September is the wettest month with most rain, and April on the other hand is the driest. Summertime brings highs in the 60's to Canyon Creek. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Canyon Creek are in the 0's.
