The Seward HigHighway at outlet of Lower Summit Lake to Seward Highway at Hope Junction stretch of Canyon Creek is 6.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV section by American Whitewater. The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This section is long enough to enjoy a good
non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater

Briefly about the general area: It is very waterless here at Canyon Creek usually; the wettest month of the year is commonly September, that's the one that rains the most; April on the other hand is the driest. All through the summer at Canyon Creek highs are frequently in the 60's. Summer nighttime lows fall
down to the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Canyon Creek descend into the 0's.
