CBJ
county,
Lower Canyon to Tidewater section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III(IV) 2 miles
The starting location is a short drive from Juneau, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of CBJ Borough and the water flowing gracefully down Carlson Creek beats anything. The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking
or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good places for that around here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There aren’t any hotels right nearby
but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section of Carlson Creek in CBJ Borough is 2 miles long and is a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
