This section of Chakachatna River is 42 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Kenai Peninsula Borough and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Chakachatna River are pretty good. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so better bring your camping gear along. Getting a good workout and just
hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are no other sections to paddle along Chakachatna River than the Chakachamna Lake to Cook Inlet section. When you're paddling down a Aleutian Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the
way too. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alaska you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other spots for that.
