If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The natural beauty of Alaska and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff.
Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from
the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are no other stretches to paddle along Chakina River than the Gravel bar to Chitina River stretch.
