  The nature scenery of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This is the only paddling stretch along Cheshnina River. This section of Cheshnina River in Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough is 23 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III+ section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have
    to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Since you're on this site you are probably into
whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other spots. The beauty of the Wrangell Mountains is a great plus for this river. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come.

Cheshnina River is a location that is rather dry ordinarily; through July this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is April.

summertime months, highs mostly are in the 60's at Cheshnina River, and the night is a bit cooler of course, frequently in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 0's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Cheshnina River temperatures descend to the-20's.
