The Lower Tonsina to Copper River Bridge section of Cheshnina River is 23 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III+ section. The scenic beauty of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. There's camping available near Cheshnina River. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have
to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Wrangell Mountains is a great plus for this river. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't
find many other paddling spots. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. This is the only paddling stretch along Cheshnina River. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.
