Fly into Lake Clark Pass.  You will land on a Lake and then portage for about a mile over relatively flat terrain to the start of the river.  The class 3 section is mainly big waves and runs for several miles. Says Ben

    River in Alaska is 60 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other
rivers for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Now this is a pretty long section, so better bring your camping gear along. Chilikadrotna River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Twin Lakes to Mulchatna River stretch is the only one. A bit of exercise and spending some quality  
time in nature will have you coming back for more. The natural beauty of Alaska and the cool fresh water beats anything.

Throughout the summer at Chilikadrotna River temperatures are mostly in the 60's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Chilikadrotna River. Chilikadrotna River is frequently a quite arid site. The wettest month of the year is generally August, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
