The Chistochina Glacier to Copper River stretch of Chistochina River is 52 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd
better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling section along Chistochina River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. Getting a good workout
and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The scenic beauty of Alaska and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The Alaska Range scenery is wonderful. There's camping available near Chistochina River.

Summertime brings highs in the 60's to Chistochina River. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are commonly in the 0's, and nighttime lows in the-20's for Chistochina River.
