Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. Chitina River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Nizina River to Chitina section is the only one. Whitewater paddling here in the Wrangell Mountains is a great experience.

Summer brings highs in the 60's to Chitina River, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 0's, and night lows during the wintertime for Chitina River tend to be in the-20's.
