If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The beautiful Alaska Range scenery is an added bonus. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The nature scenery of Matanuska-Susitna Borough Borough and the cool fresh water      make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. The East Fork to Talkeetna section is the only paddling section along Chulitna River. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Briefly about the general area: A normal amount of precipitation falls here at Chulitna River; during the month of August you get the most rain around here while May is commonly the driest month. Throughout the summer here at Chulitna River, high   temperatures generally reach the 60's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. Highs all through the wintertime are ordinarily in the 10's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Chulitna River temperatures descend to the 0's.
