  The scenic beauty of Alaska and the water flowing gracefully down Copper River attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. A stretch of this length does require some preparations,
    so it looks like you will be camping out. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Copper River are pretty good. There are a few other sections in this river system that
can be paddled as well. This stretch of Copper River in Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough is 125 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater.

At Copper River you don’t see much rainfall; the month with most of the rain is July; April on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 60's to Copper River. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 0's, and overnight lows in the-20's for Copper River.
