The Lower Canyon to Tidewater stretch of Carlson Creek in Alaska is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(IV) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska are harder than the national norm, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The scenic beauty of Alaska and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great.
Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Lower Canyon to Tidewater stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime at Carlson Creek temperatures are commonly in the 60's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 40's.
For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Carlson Creek during the winter mostly plunge into the 10's. Carlson Creek gets much water; October is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is April.
