CLASS III-IV     18 miles
The Lower or Upper Copper Lake to Lower Pike Lake or Intricate Bay stretch of Copper River in Alaska is 18 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Alaska and the water flowing gracefully down Copper River make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large
number of rivers in this state are not easy. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A bit of exercise and
a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Lower or Upper Copper Lake to Lower Pike Lake or Intricate Bay stretch is one of a few paddling
stretches in this river system. The Aleutian Range scenery is wonderful.
