This stretch of Delta River is 14 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. The beautiful scenery of Alaska Range North of Paxson Borough and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater paddling here in the Alaska Range is a great experience. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many
other paddling spots. There's camping available near Delta River. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A good workout and spending some
quality time in nature are great reasons to come. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Suzy Q Creek to Donnelly Creek Campground stretch is one of them. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Delta River through the summer are in the 60's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 0's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Delta River temperatures descend to the-20's.
