Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The scenic beauty of Alaska and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The beauty of the Chugach Mountains is a great plus for this river. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. During the months of summer highs here at Eagle River get into the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's.
