Alaska whitewater - Eagle River, Anchorage Borough
Anchorage
county,
Upper section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I 15 miles
The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The wonderful Anchorage Borough scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. If you're a camper
you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from Anchorage, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch of Eagle River is 15 miles long and is a class I section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too.
