The beautiful scenery of Anchorage Borough and the water flowing gracefully down Eagle River attract people from near and far. The put-in is not too far from Anchorage, as you can see on the road map further down. The campgrounds here at Eagle River are pretty good. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that many     of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Military Stretch section is just one of many. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Eagle River is pretty dehydrated regularly; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain while April is generally the driest month. Alpenglow At Arctic Valley has tremendous slopes and a friendly staff. Throughout the days of summer, highs usually are in the 60's at Eagle River. During   the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 10's with temperatures at Eagle River dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.
