Alaska whitewater, Firth River

North Slope county, Margaret Lake to Beaufort Sea section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV     99 miles
The scenic beauty of North Slope Borough and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average Alaska whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The wild scenery of the Brooks Range is great. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Margaret
Lake to Beaufort Sea section is one of them. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other
rivers for that. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so it looks like you will be camping out. The Margaret Lake to Beaufort Sea stretch of Firth River in Alaska is 99 miles long and is according to American Whitewater
a class III-IV section of whitewater.
