The Margaret Lake to Beaufort Sea section of Firth River is 99 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The wild scenery of the Brooks Range is great. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy.
The scenic beauty of North Slope Borough and the cool fresh water have people coming here. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This is the only paddling section along Firth River. You can pitch a tent or park
your RV at a nearby campground. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, perfect for a real wilderness adventure.
