  The wonderful Alaska scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Some people prefer whitewater rafting
    and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. Now this is a pretty long section, so better bring your camping gear along. The Joseph Airstrip to Taylor Highway Fortymile Bridge stretch
of Fortymile River - Middle Fork and North Fork is 46 miles long and has been rated as a class II(III) section by American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come.

Through the winter this place gets highs in the-10's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Fortymile River - Middle Fork and North Fork drop into the-30's. Fortymile River - Middle Fork and North Fork gets very little rain. The wettest month of the year is commonly July, that's the one that rains the most while March is frequently the driest month.
