Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This stretch of Gilahina River in Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough is 7.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. | great. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good spots for that around here.
