Basin Road Bridge into Cope Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-V(V+) 2 miles
If you're coming from Juneau it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alaska are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The Basin Road Bridge into Cope Park section of Gold Creek in City & Borough of Juneau Borough is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class III-V(V+) section by American Whitewater. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're
all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This is a bit
of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The nature scenery of Alaska and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything.
