The Gravel Creek Glacier to Matanuska River section of Gravel Creek in Alaska is 11.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The beautiful Talkeetna Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alaska are
often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. The Gravel Creek Glacier to Matanuska River

There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. summer at Gravel Creek highs are regularly in the 60's with night lows in the 40's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 10's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Gravel Creek plunge into the-10's.
